EMFC Olympic Fencing Programs (Foil, Epee, and Saber)

Why Fencing?

For 18 + year old

1. Great work-out....  Tired of lifting weights and running treadmill to nowhere? Bored at the Gym? Fencing is your answer. If you like fast pace, logical games, but you actually get to be a part of the game - fencing is for you. If you have done tennis or martial arts, you will see many similarities. Research claims that during fencing you spend about 600 calories an hour.  One thing for sure - you will look better in weeks!!!

2. Great social atmosphere. Fencing is really a great place to meet people and make friends.

3. Competitive edge. If you like to compete - you can start to compete in fencing at any age, even over 60... Fencing is like golf, there is no age in fencing, you can do it at any age.

4. COOL factor among your friends. Wait till you see your friend's reaction, when you tell them that you fence.

5. You get to try something unusual in life, something that only royalty and nobles could enjoy until the early 20th century

For 13 - 18 year old

1. Great scholarship opportunity... or at least a competitive edge for you to get into a college of your dreams. Fencing is an NCAA sport, just like football, tennis, soccer, and baseball. However competitive is still not too big, because fencing is still growing in the USA. It is growing really fast though, and USA is showing great results in the Olympic Games already. Start as soon as you can. When you are young you learn fast and get results faster! A bit of hard work and determination and get you a long way, and make your dreams come true. Check out NCAA Fencing to see the list of colleges recruiting for fencing teams.

2. Fencing is an Olympic Sport. If you have never thought you could be in the Olympics, think again... You might be the one who is good in fencing. Give it a try!

3. Fencing is really a great place to meet people and make friends for life.

4. COOL factor among your friends. Wait till you see your friend's reaction, when you tell them that you fence.

5. You get to try something unusual in life, something that only royalty and nobles could enjoy until the early 20th century...

Do I need to buy fencing equipment?

We will provide you fencing equipment for the first month. Then you will need to purchase your own set. It is not more expensive than tennis, soccer, or baseball equipment, and much cheaper than golf.
